2013, a time we should all be so proud of our accomplishments, instead, we are all fussing and fighting about things that happened so many years ago. The reasons are simple really, some people just don't want others to get along so they toss a wrench into the machinery.
There was a time when the African American could not drink the same water, eat in the same places, or live in the same neighborhood as the Whites. These were ignorant times, and thank God things have changed for the better, or have they? From the early sixties, were the end of segregation, so then why are we still segregated?
Just when we think the past faded away, we have people with influence, on the airwaves, as well as people living amongst us, who still see color as a divider. When will they understand we in this world, are all men and women, nothing more, nothing less. They speak of fairness, and yet, segregate. Blacks in America, have their own television station which air all black cast shows. Some sitcoms only have an all white cast, so where is the integration? Long gone are the times of typecasting clacks as servants, slaves, Jamima's and minstrels, and yet, there they are. Tyler Perry insures the typecast of the black stereotype stays alive. How many shows in these times, have no blacks in their cast at all? No friends we are still segregated because thats how some still want it to be, and that is a shame. Black History Month, February, one month out of the year to learn about what blacks have accomplished throughout history. When we understand, that all history is made of peoples accomplishments, there will be no need for a black history month, its all history. We are indeed still showing signs that segregation still survives after all these years. Some people still want it, and until we all think the same, get on the same page, and ignore those who keep tossing race into the mix, nothing will ever change.
If a black man saves a life, why can't we just see a hero, not a color? The media wants us to be segregated. They make it a point to say, "It was a Black man, a White man, or a Hispanic. Why can't we just say, it was a man or a woman who did something horrible, or great?
In these times, when we should all embrace each other, lending a helping hand no mater what the circumstance is, we are too busy in our little cubicles. Nice and neat are we, and comfortable with the way media, politicians and other bigots have pigeonholed we the people. The time has come, when we stop listening to those with an agenda, those who want a separation of what they think the races should be. The only race in the world today, is one, the human race. For any one man who believes we are pure of race, is a fantasy. The millions of years of mans existence, maybe in the beginning we were made up of many races, but now, not a chance. Over the years we have become a meld of all the races, and anyone who believes we are pure, is an idiot.
Ladies and gentlemen, now is the time to stop the madness, we are the people, not the races. When we can think of us as one, we can overcome. Soon, the old way of thinking will be behind us. Soon, those who were filled with racist thought will dye off, and progress can be made. For now, we are segregated, nothing changes until we end the vicious cycle of the color wheel.
